a great review…

Emily Eastham

‘Life of Pi’ is an incredible story, based on the novel by Yann Martel, it tells a story of a young boy finding his spirituality as he is growing up in India. We follow Piscine Molitor ‘Pi’ Patel (Suraj Sharma) through his religions until his family are forced to sell the zoo they run and re-locate to Canada because of financial problems. After the sinking of the cargo ship they are traveling on Pi is left stranded on a life boat with a hyena, a zebra with a broken leg, a female orang-utan , and a Bengal tiger.
Although initially slow to start with, once stranded on the boat with Pi, the film creates a real sense of unity between man and animal. With the brilliant acting of Suraj Sharma you relate to his character, and let’s face it, there isn’t many of us who understand what it’s like to…

A bit of Christmas Cynicism

Emily Eastham

Christmas. Again. Great. Honestly I find it difficult to get excited. It’s the same every year. I put on too much weight and I spend too much money. Before you know it here comes the January bill tapping on your shoulder and letting you know how irresponsible you were with your credit card. I am completely aware of the connotations of this opinion but ‘BAH HUMBUG’ has never been my saying. I can understand the pro’s, it’s an excuse to see your family and friends, send out a piece of card with a greeting on which will clutter your house until you sneak them into the bin feeling bad towards the sender.
I mean, Christmas dinner is cracking, but why can we only have a dinner so good at Christmas? It makes no logical sense to me. Although Christmas dinner’s appreciation does depend on the cook. Being one who is…

Love is Like That

Ain’t it funny how I used to be everything you wanted?

Now you don’t give me the time of day.

Tell me what you want me to say:

I’ve given up on our love.

Baby, I’ve had enough

Of being played by you.

Now you see the door

That you can walk through.

My love ain’t like that,

You can’t say that you need me,

Then you don’t want me.

You must be crazy

To do me like that.

Great write by Emily Eastham

Emily Eastham

We undertook an interview with Dani a 19 year old collage student, asking questions on her opinion on the sexual revolution from 1920’s to the present day, focusing on which subjects stand out most prominently.
The sexual revolution is undeniably a huge part of history. It’s most famous movement was that of the women’s liberation, however the sexual revolution also had a massive impact on the attitudes between men and women.
The sexual revolution ‘has come a long way’ however there are ‘still people out there with closed minds’. Obviously attitudes have changed, female stereotypes ‘changed especially in the 1920’s-90’s’ however more recently women have achieved closer to equality.
It’s not only female stereotypes that have changed, general sexuality has become far more ‘accepted’. Although people’s minds have ‘expanded’, with problems such as homophobia still circulating in society it is clear that there are ‘still people that don’t understand’. Focusing…

In the Darkness

Deep in the darkness I’m always alone.
How did I get here what is to show?
I walk out of the darkness and into the light:
Never again will I suffer this plight.

I Don’t Need You

When we first met you were different

Made me smile every day

Now there’s teardrops and there’s hatred

More and more each day

You said I was your only

The one you need around

But then things turned out slowly

starting to burn down

Well I don’t need you:

I can’t believe I thought you were

The one for me,

And I, can’t wait ’til I’m over you

You’re just some useless hatred and misery.

Fall to Pieces

I looked away

Then I looked back at you

You tried to say things that you can’t undo

If I had my way

I’d never get over you

Today’s the day I pray that we make it through

Make it through the fall

Make it through it all

I don’t wanna fall to pieces

I just wanna sit and stare at you

I don’t wanna talk about it

And I don’t want a conversation

I just wanna cry in front of you

I don’t wanna talk about it

Cos I’m in love with you

You’re the only one I’d be with until the end

When I come undone

You bring me back again

Back under the stars

Back into your arms

I don’t wanna fall to pieces

I just wanna sit and stare at you

I don’t wanna talk about it

And I don’t want a conversation

I just wanna cry in front of you

I don’t wanna talk about it

Cos I’m in love with you

Wanna know who you are

Wanna know where to start

I wanna know what this means

Wanna know how you feel

Wanna know what is real

I wanna know everything

Everything

I don’t wanna fall to pieces

I just wanna sit and stare at you

I don’t wanna talk about it

And I don’t want a conversation

I just wanna cry in front of you

I don’t wanna talk about it

Cos I’m in love with you

I’m in love with you
